Breadmaking for Beginners

Learn how to make your own whole meal dough and bake a 1lb loaf and decorative rolls. While the dough is proving you will also find out how to make Potato Scones, a much loved Scottish delicacy. You will be able to take all products home to enjoy your efforts with family and friends.

Watercolour for Textiles

Learn how to create watercolour paintings using inspiration from flowers and produce grown in the walled garden. This style of drawing is looking at extracting pattern and mark making. These can be kept as pieces of art work or used to develop into textile designs.

Stone Carving and Lettering (Week 1 of 3)

An introduction to the art of stone carving from our experts on the Estate. Learn how to take a simple block of stone and carve a letter or number of your choice. Choose whether you would like to book one, two or three sessions giving you the opportunity to create a more personalised piece. You will get experience of using chisels and a mallet to carve your block of stone. You will have examples from previous craft projects to inspire you along with guidance from your tutor. You will be able to take your carved letter home to show your efforts to your friends and family. Please give instructions on what you would like to carve and templates will be ready for you arriving at the workshops.

Your Biodiverse Garden

Enjoy an evening at the Pierburg Building and Kauffman education garden brushing up on your knowledge of the invertebrates that play key roles within any healthy garden ecosystem. Decide on which mini-beasts you would like to encourage in your garden and create your own bespoke Insect House and Wildflower Seed Bombs to take home to enhance your outdoor space.
