Our Visitor Centre, Shop & Café
Our Visitor Centre and Dumfries House Shop is your first port of call when arriving on the estate, and is located next door to our Coach House Café.
Visitor Centre and Shop
Open 11am – 3.30pm Monday to Friday and 10am – 4pm on the weekends.
Please note in January 2026, we’re only open on weekends.
Our team at the Visitor Centre will always point you in the right direction and help you with any questions you have.
At the Visitor Centre you can pick up a map of the estate, book your House Tour and find out about the day’s events, as well as shopping for a range of products – from locally produced jam to a traditional crook for exploring the grounds.
Coach House Café
Open 10am – 4pm, seven days a week.
At our Coach House Café, located next door to our Visitor Centre, we serve a delicious range of hot and cold refreshments. Dine inside the café, sit outside on the terrace or choose a takeaway to be enjoyed elsewhere on the estate.
Booking is not required but customers may have a short wait for a table on busier days. Please note dogs are not allowed inside the café, apart from service dogs, but visitors are welcome to sit with their dogs on the outdoor terrace.
Coach House Café
Refreshments at our Café
We serve a selection of homemade soups, scones, sandwiches, paninis, and jacket potatoes, complemented by an array of cold drinks or freshly-brewed coffee or tea alongside traybakes and cakes.
All of our menu staples are freshly prepared on the day, and many are made from scratch in the café by our talented bakers and kitchen staff. Seasonal specials grace the menu throughout the year. As a licensed premises, the café also serves a small selection of beers and wines.
Vegan and gluten free options are available.
Getting here
The Visitor Centre, Shop and Café are easy to reach on foot or by car, with car parking available outside and the estate’s main public car park just a short walk away. Adjacent to the café lies The Adventure Playpark, The Maze, The Visitor Centre, The Arboretum and Dumfries House itself.
Disabled car parking spaces are available next to the Shop.
