Dumfries House Lodge retains Michelin Key for the third year in a row
The Dumfries House Lodge, opened by His Majesty King Charles in 2015, has retained its Michelin Key for the third year in a row.
The esteemed Michelin Hotel Guide recognises the best hotels in the world, and Dumfries House Lodge is amongst only a handful of luxury Scottish properties to be included. Its inclusion in the guide means Dumfries House Lodge has been judged excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for price, and a significant contribution to the guest experience.
The Lodge was first awarded a Michelin Key in 2024, and has since appeared in the Guide in 2025 and 2026.
Sitting on the edge of our 2,000-acre estate and only a few hundred metres from Dumfries House itself, the Lodge is an exclusive country guest house offering luxury accommodation. Built in 1750 and brought into use a few years prior to the completion of Dumfries House, the ‘Garden Cottage’ as it was then known in the 18th century, became the Factor’s House and remained so for over 200 years before being refurbished and opened for visitors in 2015.
Featuring 22 individually decorated guest rooms, two self-catering cottages and a two-bedroom apartment, the Lodge attracts thousands of guests from all over the world every year.
During their stay, residents can enjoy access to two cosy sitting rooms, beautifully curated gardens, and the Dumfries House Lodge Restaurant. Private guided tours of Dumfries House can also be arranged.
All proceeds from the Dumfries House Lodge, along with other commercial activities on the estate, are reinvested into the work of The King’s Foundation charity, which provides a range of educational and community projects on the estate and in the local area.
