House and Grand Tours
Learn about the history of Dumfries House and discover key rooms and features, including our unrivalled collection of Thomas Chippendale furniture.
Our one-hour House Tour includes visiting Dumfries House’s principal floor and its key rooms. Our Grand Tour is 90 minutes, providing more detail about the House’s history and a chance to see additional interior floors and rooms. We also offer a 30-minute Highlights Tour for those on a tighter schedule.
Specialist tours
Art Tour
Discover the unique collection of art on display at Dumfries House with this dedicated 90-minute art tour. See our own collection of artwork along with loans from the Royal Collection Trust, National Galleries of Scotland and the Fleming-Wyfold Art Foundation.
Clock Tour
This 90-minute tour focuses on the impressive and extensive clock collection within Dumfries House. Certain historic clocks will be moved and opened to allow for a closer look.
Chippendale Tour
This 90-minute tour takes a look at Thomas Chippendale, his life, work and the Dumfries House collection. Some key pieces within the collection will be opened and on display.
Group visits and tours
We welcome group visits to the House at any time of year. Our minimum tour group size is 12 but there is no maximum. For groups of 20 or more we offer a selection of exclusive refreshment packages served within the main house itself.
