The Maze Lose yourself at Dumfries House in a whole new way – by surrendering to the yew hedges of the bespoke maze that opened in Summer 2016.
About
Almost 2000 6ft-high trees were planted during its construction and were mature enough to get lost inside straight away. Over time, the hedges will develop to enhance the labyrinth even more.
The maze, which includes obelisks and a Japanese pagoda, was the idea of HRH Prince Charles, inspired by the elaborate maze at Sandringham and his childhood visits there. It was created by by Fife-based landscape designer Michael Innes, and its paths stretch to over half a mile.
The circular, almost symmetrical maze can be found just south-east of Adam Bridge, and has already welcomed 7000 visitors – all of whom safely made their way out again.
