News. Dumfries House Magazine Spring Issue 02

17th of March, 2017

The second issue of Dumfries House magazine is out now. As we enter our 10th year since the house and its contents were saved by the astonishing fundraising efforts of HRH The Duke of Rothesay, this anniversary issue looks back at the remarkable journey we have been on ever since, from renovations and new builds to education and community outreach.

The quarterly magazine’s articles also go into the Glen Dimplex Royal Drawing School to meet some of the artists in residence and into the Morphy Richards Engineering Education Centre to explore the importance of STEM education for primary school children. The history and finery of the Pink Dining room is examined, including a pair of William Mathie Pier Glasses, and interviews with the Events team and Tour Guides reveal the hard work that goes into keeping Dumfries House tick. Finally our collaboration with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, which offers free stringed instrument and modern ballet tuition to young pupils in East Ayrshire, reports that now the fields - and the halls - are alive with music.
