News. Marie Curie Daffodil Dawdle

26th of February, 2018

Members of the local Ayrshire community are being invited to take part in Marie Curie’s inaugural Daffodil Dawdle fundraising event at Dumfries House.

Around 500 people are expected to participate in the tranquil walk along the Duchess of Rothesay Avenue, which will be beautifully lined by half a million daffodils. On completion of the walk, participants will be invited to enjoy tasty complimentary refreshments in the Dumfries House Walled Garden Pavilion which gives scenic views across the Estate’s vast grounds.

Elma Mitchell, community fundraiser for Marie Curie, explains: “The Daffodil Dawdle is being held in Ayrshire as part of Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal, which is the charity’s largest annual fundraising drive. The Ayrshire Fundraising Group are constantly trying to think of new ways to raise money and awareness of the work done by Marie Curie to help people that are living with a terminal illness and we are delighted to be hosting this fundraising event at Dumfries House.”

Money raised from the Daffodil Dawdle will go directly towards helping Marie Curie provide expert care, guidance and essential support to people in Ayrshire who are living with a terminal illness.

“We are pleased to be supporting Marie Curie’s Daffodil Dawdle and are very much looking forward to what will be a great event. Around 500,000 daffodils will line the route and so participants will be able to enjoy a fantastic view whilst raising money for a very worthy cause,” says Sheila Gregory, events manager at Dumfries House.

The Daffodil Dawdle will take place on Sunday 25 March, with visitors encouraged to wear yellow in support. To register, click here.
