News. Fifth anniversary celebrations

30th of May, 2018

To mark the fifth anniversary of The Tamar Manoukian Outdoor Centre situated on the Dumfries House Estate we will be holding a Family Fun Day on Sunday July 1, from 10am-7pm, with lots of activities for children and adults alike to get involved in.

There will be 30-minute taster sessions for a whole host of exciting outdoor and adventure activities, including indoor climbing, archery, geocaching, bushcraft fire-building, woodland shelter building and a mucky mud trail. The adventure obstacle course will also be open, and there will even be an inflatable jousting area.

Animal enthusiasts will be able to attend an organised tour around the Valentin’s Education Farm to see the Estate’s array of rare-breed farm animals. Other farm activities and STEM challenges will be running throughout the day.

If all that leaves you gasping for breath, visitors can relax and grab a bite to eat at the delicious BBQ, while refreshments will be available to purchase within the Outdoor Centre, including tea, coffee and ice cream.

Richard Kay, Indoor and Outdoor Centre Manager at Dumfries House, says:

“The Outdoor Centre continually offers residential opportunities to schools, youth groups and other organisations by providing activities and facilities designed to help visitors develop leadership skills, build confidence and encourage personal development. The Residential Centre is also available for individuals or companies to book for special events and team building activities.
“Many of our facilities, such as our gym hall and climbing wall, are also open to the public throughout the year for fitness classes, recreation and birthday parties so we wanted to host an event to celebrate our upcoming fifth anniversary with the local community. The Family Fun Day looks set to be a great event and we are very much looking forward to welcoming around 500 visitors to the estate for it.”

Wristbands for the Family Fun Day at Dumfries House, which offer unlimited access to the taster sessions, are on sale now and are priced at £3 per child and £5 per adult. They are available from the Visitor Centre at Dumfries House or by calling 01290 425 959.
