Dates

Tuesday 11th August

Family Farm to Fuel Day – Tuesday 11th August – 10am until 2pm.

Spend a memorable day with your children discovering how the food we eat fuels healthy, active lives.

Join us at the MacRobert Farming & Rural Skills Centre, Dumfries House, for a unique family experience that follows the journey of food from the farm to the fuel our bodies need to learn, play and thrive.

Designed for families with children aged 8 years and over, you’ll begin with a guided farm tour, meeting the people and animals behind the food on our plates. You’ll then cook together in a hands-on family cook-along led by a Make it Scotch (QMS) Ambassador, using fresh, seasonal Scottish produce while learning how nutritious food helps to fuel healthy bodies and active lifestyles.

We’re also delighted to be joined by the inspiring team from Saltire Tides, three ordinary women preparing to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean. They’ll share their incredible story of courage, teamwork and determination, while highlighting the vital role that good nutrition plays in preparing for one of the world’s toughest endurance challenges.

Finally, it’s time to put that fuel to the test! Take part in a fun family outdoor activity (weather permitting) and discover first-hand how the food we eat provides the energy to move, explore and enjoy being active together.

Whether you’re looking for a memorable day out, enjoy cooking as a family, or want to help your children better understand where food comes from and why healthy eating matters, this is a fun and engaging experience that brings farming, food and fitness together in one unforgettable day.
