The Blue Drawing Room. The first step back into the late eighteenth century on the guided tour of the house.
About
The Blue Drawing Room is an elegant Georgian sitting room. The 5th Earl of Dumfries wrote of his intention to have two sofas from London to be placed on either side of the fireplace in this room. His purchases, from Chippendale, are still present today en suite with Chippendale elbow chairs. The ensemble is covered in a vibrant, hand-woven, blue damask silk. Two fine portraits by Sir Henry Raeburn depicting the 6th Earl of Dumfries and his family hang on either side of the fireplace.
